SUSAN KOCH (DIRECTOR/WRITER)
EMMY and Peabody award-winning filmmaker Susan Koch directs, writes, and produces documentaries and non-fiction programming for worldwide distribution. Koch’s feature documentary, KICKING IT, about homeless soccer players who compete in an international tournament, premiered at the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, was released theatrically and on DVD, and broadcast on ESPN. Koch co-directed and produced MARIO’S STORY, about a young Latino, Mario Rocha, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison on the basis of one eyewitness and no physical evidence. MARIO’S STORY received the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was broadcast on Showtime. Koch received a prestigious Soros Justice Media Fellowship for her work in connection with this film. Koch also directed the award-winning documentary, CITY AT PEACE, featured at film festivals throughout the world and broadcast on HBO. Most recently, she directed THE OTHER CITY, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was broadcast on Showtime. Koch’s films and videos have appeared on ABC, NBC, PBS, HBO, Showtime, MTV, ESPN, The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Turner Broadcasting, American Movie Classics, The Learning Channel, and the Travel Channel. Koch is also the Executive Director of the Middleburg Film Festival, located in Middleburg, Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C.
J. WENDY THOMPSON-MARQUEZ (PRODUCER)
is the President and CEO of the Onyx Media Group and EVS Communications, Inc. From 1997– 2009, Thompson-Marquez was Vice President and General Manager of ZGS Broadcast Holdings, a communications company wherein she supervised the daily operations and advertising sales of eleven Telemundo network affiliates. In 2009 she became the President of the Onyx Media Group and EVS Communications, both firms whose mission is to produce television programs and films that address social issues. Her latest film, HARVEST OF EMPIRE opened to great reviews in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post and was the winner of the prestigious International Documentary Association award, Golden Eagle Cine Awards and the IMAGEN Awards.
